SETTING UP TUNE IN TO
SELECT BY STATION NAME

Remote

Background: Tune In must be set up to select channels by station name/label. There are two different types of labels, Stored Labels and User Labels. It is advantageous to start with the Stored Labels. Stored Labels are much more flexible. You can enter them with a single sequence of numbers; the nice feature is there are multiple ways to select some station names once the unit is set up. For example, ESPN2 can be selected by entering the channel number, ESP2 or ESPN2. Other multiple means for selecting a channel are shown below.

Set Up Chart

For this step, please click on "Stored Label Chart" and print the chart to assist you in setting up Tune In. You do not need to be in the same room as your TV for this step. You will need your cable conversion chart.

======> Stored Label Chart <======

There are three columns on the Chart. Columns 1 and 2 have information filled in.

  1. NAME is what you typically see in your TV guide.
  2. KEY is the key sequence to select the name.
  3. The CHAN column is blank. You will use your local cable conversion chart to fill in this column.

Entering Stored Labels

You are ready to enter Stored Labels using your Tune In and the Set Up Chart you have filled in. You do not need to be at your TV. If you make a mistake, don't worry. You can change a stored label by reentering it. The lights are very helpful. You will observe the green light flashes two times for the key number (first entry) and four times for the channel number (second entry). If you make a detectable error, the Empty light (red) will flash five times.

  1. Press and hold Set until the green light blinks once, pauses and then blinks twice. Now release the Set key.
  2. Press and release keys: 9, 7, 9. The green Light will turn on. Now enter STORED LABELS.
  3. Follow this example for the first Stored Label, A&E (204). Please use your channel number.
Press and release keys 2, 0, 4 and Enter. -- The green light flashes twice.
Press and release keys for your A&E channel and Enter. -- The green light flashes 4 times. The label for A&E is complete.
  4. Repeat Step 3 for the other Stored Labels on your Chart.

If you stop, don't worry. The green light will go out. You can go back to step 1 and pick up from where you stopped. When all entries have been made, you can wait 15 seconds and the unit will turn off.

Checking Stored Labels

When you have entered some or all of your stored labels, you may want to check them. For checking, you need to be at your TV.

  1. Turn the TV on.
  2. Press and hold Set until the green light blinks once, pauses and then blinks twice. Now release the Set key.
  3. Press and release keys: 9, 7, 9. You are now in the Stored Label Mode.
  4. Using the Channel Scan Key (CH), press up channel. The TV will tune the channels in the order they are on the chart.
  5. If you find an error as you scan, STOP. You can do one of two things. You may want to note the change and continue checking before making corrections OR while the TV is at that channel, press the Clear key. This will erase that error. You can also overwrite by entering the key number again followed by Enter and its associated channel number followed by Enter. The TV channel will not change until you resume scanning. If you make a correction during scanning, the next channel scan will start at the first channel you have entered on the worksheet.
  6. For additions or corrections, go to step 1 of Entering Stored Labels.

You can now tune stations by stored label. Tune CNN by pressing CNN and Enter.
