Setting Up Hide The Channel

If your television does not have a channel lock out feature, you can make tuning selected channels difficult to access without knowing the secret name or number.
Most modern TVs, VCRs and cable boxes have an add and delete feature so that channels without pictures are not scanned. If your equipment has this capability, then this feature can be implemented.
To Implement:
- Change your components for example TV, VCR and cable box to remove channel scanning for channels you want to protect.
- Refer to the User Labels section of this Guide and assign a name or number to become the method of selecting those channels. This name or number becomes your secret method of tuning the protected channel.
For example, if you want a secret code to access channel 37, it could be JACK (5235). In that case, on the User Label the Name would be JACK, the Key would be 5235 and the CHAN would be 37.
- Change the assignment of the channel you want to protect so that it goes to a different channel. For example, if you want to protect channel 37, you could direct channel 37 to go to channel 88. In that case, on the User Label the Name would be 37, the Key would be 37 and the CHAN would be 88.
Caution: A person with great desire can gain entry to the protected channel.
Clearing Hidden Channels
To clear Hidden Channels, you must enter the User Label mode as described below.
- Turn the TV on.
- Press and hold Set until the green light blinks once, pauses and then
blinks twice. Now release the Set key.
- Press and release keys: 9, 7, 8. The green Ready Light will turn on.
- Using the Channel Scan Key (CH), press up channel. The TV will tune the channels.
- Scan channels until you arrive at the channel your Hidden Channel was diverted to.
- While the TV is at that channel, press the Clear key. This will erase the label and the channel. The channel on the TV will not change until you resume scanning. Note: Scan all the channels. You may have more than one approach to the channel you have just cleared.
- Wait fifteen seconds for the green light to go out or press the Set key. You should now be able to select the channel that was formerly hidden.
